ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY
Acceptance and commitment therapy was developed by psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Steven Hayes. The primary focus is on taking action to overcome intrusive thoughts that are barriers to happiness. This philosophy can be utilized to assist in treating anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, stress, eating disorders and more.
TRAUMA COUNSELING
Acute, chronic, and complex trauma can impede day-to-day functioning. The focus on therapy is collaborative between the client and therapist in order to first identify goals, then to navigate through past traumas in order to develop healthy alternatives to address and respond to the challenges of relationships and other life stressors.
AUTISM & DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS
Therapy for the neurodiverse population requires clients to identify goals that are of importance to them. The counselor will subsequently assist clients in achieving their goals by identifying potential barriers and necessary skill sets that may need to be developed, in order to attain the desired outcomes. A variety of curricula may be incorporated, while progress is continually measured and assessed.
BEHAVIOR THERAPY FOR YOUNG CHILDREN& FAMILY EDUCATION
All behavior occur for a purpose; therefore, it is imperative to analyze events surrounding behaviors, to determine the function. The function will then inform the intervention and how to address the challenging behaviors. This type of therapy typically is family-focused, using education and coaching to assist caregivers to manage behaviors in their natural environment. Due to the nature of child behaviors, and the interaction that the environment plays, it may be necessary to complete some sessions through telehealth, to address behaviors as they naturally arise.
PLAY THERAPY
Through the use of developmental knowledge and motivational activities for each individual child, a safe and consistent space is created, which is essential in facilitating a trusting relationship with a child. This trust is the hallmark for further assessment, exploration of feelings, and subsequent change. The family will also be required to be involved, either prior to or immediately following sessions, to discuss observations and carry over into the home environment.
